Meditate and Generate!
In this three-week virtual workshop BWWE co-founder Joy Notoma will lead participants in meditation techniques that uncover meditation as a dynamic tool for writers.
Each class will feature a meditation, followed by a writing life discussion, writing prompts, and time to write.
Each week we will try our hand at a new meditation technique, using key texts from a variety of spiritual and literary traditions.
This class is for people at all experience levels practicing meditation and mindfulness. All you need is to be curious about the connection between meditation and your writing life.
The class is for people of the global majority, of any gender or expression.
This is for you if:
You are curious about meditation
You are you interested in implementing a spiritual practice into your writing life
You are a writer with a meditation practice and you want to meet like minds

Craft Chat Series: Creating across writing & and non-textual mediums
Are you interested in creating work that combines writing and other, non-textual, mediums?
In this “craft chats series,” we explore the practice of writing across text and non-textual mediums such as the visual, food, sound / music, the body / performance, community building / space-making…
Hosted by BWWE 2023 participant, Amah Edoh, these chats take place for 90 minutes, each exploring a specific question or medium.
Our focus will be on creating across writing and non-textual mediums, rather than writing about non-textual mediums.
During each chat, participants will be encouraged to bring examples of work that speaks to the issue at hand and/or an example of how they are working through the issue in their own practice, the challenges they are encountering, what’s worked for them…
Each session will include a prompt for a flash (10-15 minutes) writing/creating exercise on the topic du jour that we’ll complete together. The idea is for us to create a space to interrogate, share, gain new tools, and mutually inspire one another.
